We can call the Gutenberg as a news editor for WordPress. After launching Gutenberg the entire editing experience got changed. Now it is featured with lots of builder elements for media-rich pages and posts.
One thing that stands WordPress unique from other systems is that it allows you to create as rich a page layout as you can imagine – but only if you know HTML and CSS and build your own custom theme. It lets you write a rich post and create beautiful layouts, even we can transform WordPress into something that the user loves WordPress.
But, Gutenberg still lacks some feature that is a necessity for the custom WordPress Development.
Gutenberg has been planned for three stages. The first it was targeted to include in WordPress Version 5.0 mainly focused on post editing experience and the implementation of blocks, these blocks will mainly help for managing the content development without distracting the other settings and configuration of the post.
The second and third stage basically includes customization level work, where Gutenberg will go beyond the development of the posts to the template creation and full website customization. In the current scenario when we create the post we normally use the blocks to create a layout based on content.
But, currently, there are some limitations like if we need to do customization related to layout or any functionality, then we are bound with the block. So, whenever there is any requirement where we need lots of customization then we as a team of WordPress developers always prefer to go without Gutenberg.
So, once the second and third page will come into existence with Gutenberg, then I think it will be easier to create custom template and do the customization instead of disabling the Gutenberg that we do in the current scenario when we need custom WordPress website development.
I don’t think that currently there is any requirement to hire a dedicated WordPress developer for this as of now there is no such flexibility to do complex customization. But still, we can search for the dedicated WordPress developer online like Upwork, Guru, etc.
